2-Day Private tour Marrakech to Zagora desert

Day 1,
Marrakech - Tizi N’tichka - Ait Ben Haddou - Draa Valley - Zagora
        
You will be picked up in our private van at approximately 9:00 AM and begin your journey south, crossing the breathtaking High Atlas Mountains via the renowned Tichka Pass (2,260m). As the highest mountain pass in Morocco, this route offers spectacular panoramic views of the northern landscape, dotted with traditional Berber villages.We will pause here for a photo opportunity, capturing the stunning scenery.

Continuing our journey, we will arrive at the historic Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987. This iconic Berber fortress has served as a backdrop for numerous Hollywood films, including Gladiator, The Last Temptation of Christ, and The Jewel of the Nile. Here, you will enjoy a leisurely lunch before exploring the kasbah’s ancient pathways and architecture. Our next stop takes us to the Draa Valley, famed for its breathtaking ksour (fortified villages) and kasbahs. Most notably, the valley is home to one of Morocco’s largest and most magnificent palm groves, stretching endlessly across the landscape.

As the day draws to a close, we will reach Zagora, where you will embark on a magical one-hour camel ride, witnessing a stunning desert sunset. To complete this unforgettable experience, you will enjoy a delicious traditional dinner at a desert campsite, accompanied by the rhythmic beats of Berber drumming beneath a sky filled with twinkling stars.

Day 2,
Zagora - Ouarzazate - Marrakech.

Begin your day with a traditional Berber breakfast in Zagora, enjoying fresh local specialties as the town awakens. After breakfast, depart for Ouarzazate, a city known for its historical significance and thriving film industry.

Your first stop will be the Kasbah of Taourirt, a magnificent fortress that once served as the residence of Thami El Glaoui, the powerful Pasha of Marrakech. El Glaoui was a prominent political figure during the French colonial era, known for his strong ties with both Moroccan royalty and French authorities. His influence extended across southern Morocco, and his kasbahs stood as symbols of wealth and power. The Kasbah of Taourirt, with its intricate adobe architecture, maze-like passageways, and ornately decorated rooms, offers a glimpse into this bygone era. Navigating its labyrinth of halls and courtyards can be disorienting, but with the help of a knowledgeable local guide, you’ll uncover its fascinating history and hidden details.

Next, visit one of Ouarzazate’s renowned cinema studios, where you will be guided through impressive film sets used in major Hollywood productions. Ouarzazate, often called the “Hollywood of the Desert,” has hosted the filming of iconic movies and TV series, including Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, Kingdom of Heaven, The Mummy, and Game of Thrones. As you walk through these grand sets, you’ll gain insight into how Morocco’s landscapes and architecture have played a key role in international filmmaking, attracting directors and producers from around the world.

After immersing yourself in the city's cinematic and historical charm, continue your journey through the stunning southern region of Morocco while returning to Marrakech, reflecting on the unforgettable experiences of the day.
