Jemaa El Fnaa

Marrakech

Djemaa El-Fnaa square is the highlight of any visit to Marrakech and one of the top tourist
attractions in Morocco.
By day this square at the heart of the old medina is largely filled with snake charmers and henna
tattoo makers, people with monkeys, fresh juice sellers, as well as some of the more common stalls.
As the day progresses the entertainments on offer change: the snake charmers depart, and in the afternoon and evening the square becomes more crowded, with story-tellers, magicians, and peddlers of traditional medicines. As dark descends Djemaa El-Fna fills with dozens of food-stalls, and the crowds are at their height.

Majorelle Garden

Marrakech

This enchanting spot, one of the most visited spots in Marrakech, a symphony of light and color, filled with exotic flowers and plant life and alive with birdsong and the murmur of fountains, was created by the French painter Jacques Majorelle, who came to live in Marrakech in 1922.
The artist painted the walls of his Art Deco villa and garden a vibrant and luminescent ultramarine. Set as it is in the heart of an ochre red city, his blue garden certainly raises a few eyebrows – it is, however, the blue of Marrakchi skies! The property now belongs to the Pierre Bergé- Yves Saint-Laurent Foundation, and houses a museum of Islamic art, along with the ashes of the famous couturier himself.

Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou

Ouarzazate

A UNESCO world heritage since 1987, the ksar, or Kasbahs, a group of earthen buildings surrounded by high walls, is a traditional pre-Saharan habitat. The houses crowd together within the defensive walls, which are reinforced by corner towers. Located in the foothills on the southern slopes of the High Atlas in the Province of Ouarzazate, the site of Ait-Ben-Haddou is the most famous ksar in the Ounila Valley. The Ksar of Aït-Ben-Haddou is a striking example of southern Moroccan architecture. The ksar is a mainly collective grouping of dwellings.
Lots of popular movies were shot at the Kasbah such as; The Mummy (1999) ... Gladiator (2000) ... Lawrence of Arabia (1962) ... Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (2010) ... Alexander (2004) ... The Living Daylights (1987) ... Time Bandits (1981) ... The Last Temptation of Christ (1988) ... Game Thrones 2013 and more.

Ali Ben Yousef School

Marrakech

On a trip to Marrakech visiting the Ben Youssef Madrasa is a must. The quranic college, founded in the 14th century, is one of the most beautiful sights in the city – maybe even in the whole country. With its delicate stucco work and mosaics, the Madrasa is a a brilliant sample of the art of islamic architecture. The quranic college was supposedly founded in the beginning of the 14th century by Morrocan monarch Abou el Hassan.
Yet only with the reign of the Saadians who enlarged and redecorated the building in a splendorous way in 1570, the Madrasa flourished as the largest Islamic college in the whole Maghreb region.

Up to 900 students are said to have lived there to study law and theology. The monarchy supported them by providing food and accommodation – the cooking, however, had to be done by the students themselves.
The Ben Youssef Madrasa was turned into a museum in 1960 and since it was refurbished in 1999. The bronze gate at the entrance of the college alone, decorated with fine cedar wood carvings and mosaics, is an impressive masterpiece of its time.
